Lobster Mail: Cupcakes on Cuba!

Hello one and all, it's your dodgy uncle the Lobsterator.

I promised pictures of today's cupcake related antics. As you shall see, we love cupcakes... like, really, really love them:

 ..oooooh baby. Sweet sweet love.

with a dash of our 'special icing'. I'm kidding, it was just icing. We still had lots of fun and made a mess with it though!

Sylvie the Seductobot will seduce you with icing

"Darlene, she's a dream, she's a fantasy in floral...."

"she's righteous and she's.... - got an accordion? (awesome shot though. Wind machine courtesy of Wellington.)

And here is our ... male..... lead....

... the punters liked his sun-dress, and his promises of chocolate delight.

Our brand new Beth! Ain't she a cutie? She still has that new Beth sheen... and gets the prize for Sassiest Stepford Wife in my book for even doing retro hair. Flawless Victory to the Victory rolls!
Loz might have won by a nose had he bothered to pick out footwear that matched his dress. T'ch! Better luck next time young man.

We're already busy thinking up hilarious new ways to raise money and humiliate ourselves in the process... so my little shrimplets, please feel free to pass us any suggestions!

cupcake sales

Oh look, it's a poster. Grab it, pass it about, tell your mates. We'll be giving these little homemade numbers out at our delicious bake sale today - expect some pictures later on. Or indeed, drag yourself to Cuba Street before 3pm and buy our homemade cupcakes, and help support this madness.

The Lobsterator's going to be taking the odd candid photo of our rehearsals and shenanigans behind the scenes and posting them on here. He wants you to know just how much fun he's having with this production!

AUDITIONS!

Rose here - just signing in to say hello and to advertise that we're holding auditions for the roles of Beth and Darlene next weekend! Here's more info:

If you're interested, get in touch with us at theseductobot@gmail.com and RSVP at the FB event, which you can find here. What we need from you:

Name
Email Address
Contact Phone Number
A brief run down of your relevant acting/singing experience

For the audition itself, bring along a song you're comfortable singing that showcases your range and gives us an idea of what you can do.

Beth is an alto part and spends a considerable portion of the show interacting with puppets (including aforementioned large metallic lobster).

Darlene is a soprano part and needs to be comfortable improvising around audience interaction, as well as dancing.

Both roles need to be confident singers, willing to work in a team environment and bring their ideas to the table to workshop the script with the other actors.

Any questions, please email us at theseductobot@gmail.com or text Rose on (027 324 6621).

If you can't make this time but you're still interested, don't hesitate to get in touch anyway, as we can probably figure something out.

THIS is the lovely lady playing the Seductobot!

Her name is Kirsty! She is a founding member of Quite Sensible Theater.  You should head along to their new show, Y.  Written by Kirsty herself, you can find out about it here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=157061730984225&ref=mf It's free too!

Kirsty will be playing the singing-dancing robot that causes all sorts of trouble in the show.

And is yet to learnt that friends don't remove other friends underwear.

Who are we?

I'm Nicole, and mostly I'll be the one updating this blog! I'm the musical director (LOL sounds so official and grow up), so come read about this merry organised ride of chaos that will be the next 5 months!

Hard at work (really, head at play) last night at our writer/director Rosie's house.

So we're writing/making a musical about a robot...

And this is where we can tell you all about it.

The blurb:

The Seductobot
Fringe Festival 2011

Beth is a socially inept scientist, in love with her best friend Trevor. Trevor is a philosophy student, in love with a cafe worker named Darlene, who he's never spoken to. Darlene is an opportunistic gold-digger, intent on getting her hooks into Stefan, a lawyer who frequents the cafe. Stefan is self-obsessed, morally questionable and not above using his good looks to get what he wants.

When Beth creates Sylvie, a humanoid robot programmed for seduction, in a misguided attempt to get rid of her feelings for Trevor, she sets off a chain of events that turn everyone's lives upside down. Featuring a pair of sarcastic stuffed toys, a potentially dangerous laser beam and plenty of explosions, 'The Seductobot' is a show about unrequited love, questionable decisions, tangled relationships and robots.

So that's our show, and we have 5 months to pull it off. Wish us luck!
